Born in Sylhet, Bangladesh, Ranendra Das began learning tabla from his father at the age of 3.
Ranendra earned his Bachelor of Music degree with a concentration in Music Performance from the University of Bridgeport in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He studied Western Classical music along with Indian Classical music, with Tabla as his major instrument. He earned his Master of Fine Arts in Interdisciplinary Arts from Goddard College in Plainfield, Vermont.
Ranendra has performed at Madison Square Garden, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Symphony Space in New York City, and has participated in renowned jazz and music festivals such as the Lake Eden Arts Festival (LEAF) in Black Mountain, North Carolina, the Mystic Seaport Sea Music Festival in Mystic, Connecticut, and the Arts and Ideas International Festival in New Haven, Connecticut. In 2010, Ranendra was honored to performed for President Barack Obama at the Martin Luther King Jr., Memorial Dedication in Washington, DC.
